Where it began

July

Before Jack and Jess knew each other, one thing was certain, most of their relationships were a disaster. No matter how hard they tried nothing seemed to keep them happy enough to stay with previous partners. So, after many failed attempts, the thought of online dating became more and more appealing.

The Hily Dating App was downloaded into their phones and the search began. There was alot to learn from online dating! Jack experienced how hard is was to talk to the female species as most of the conversations were expected to be male driven. This was shown by the women's short, closed off responses leaving Jack to feel like they weren't interesed. Jess, however, had a different experience. Men wouldn't leave her alone and she felt like they were begging for one thing; to have their way with her and nothing more.
There were a short few who didn't show these trait but the idea of a relationship with these individuals didn't seem like a match. All seemed useless to the both until they came across each others profiles and swipped right.

August

On the 16th August, Jess began the conversation in the most cliche way possible:

Jess: Hey, how are you?

Now, it can be agreed that what Jack said next is one of the best ways to answer that question. Not only was it done in a flirty manner but also curiosity struct after reading Jess's profile:

Jack: Hey, sad actually since there's no pictures of Luna on your profile 🥲
How are you?



Jess: better?

The conversation between Jack and Jess began to spark as they discussed their interests and hobbies with little hints of flirting (more from Jack and Jess).

Jack: Going out with an old mate for a drink later though which I'm not really looking forward to 😅
You got any good excuses you tend to use?
Jess: Oh I have loads of excuses 😅😅

Jack: Give me your best ones haha

Jess: Okay but do you have any animals or siblings?

Jack: Yeah, I have two dogs, tortoise, and a lizard 😅 He also forgot to mention the endless fish
Also a brother but he's moved out so no excuse there unfortunately

Jess: okay you can say the dogs have been play fighting and caused a bit of ruption at home. e.g. they have broken a few things or if you live with your parents cause one to fall over and hurt themselves

Little to Jess's knowledge, Jack asked a bit more of a playful flirty question which made her get the "butterflies"
Jack: Okay okay, good one I'll give you that
So when I ask you about going out to maybe break the ice a little, you won't give me an excuse like that about your rabbit will you? 😉😅

Jess was genuine about her answer and says she won't use an excuse unless it was actually the case. Jack seemed to like this as he asked about her ideal date, although Jess loves a good surprise rather than agreeing to something.

It wasn't before long that Jack mentioned one place that they have both been wanting to go: Ghetto Golf. It's a crazy-golf course in birmingham that also serve alcohol. It was a massive new trend happening. Jack brough up the idea of how it will be a good place to take photos, which struck Jess as a surprise he remembered! Unfortunately, Jess was stuck with work for the next couple of weeks so Ghetto golf was out the question.

Soon after this they decided to move the conversation to a different media, snapchat!

For a few weeks Jack and Jess made conversation and at one point, after a night out with his friends resulting in him being tipsy, Jack and Jess video called for a few hours during the middle of the night. Jess advised him to get some water but not like he listened, however, she did stay on call to him until he sobered up enough to fall asleep although neither of them wanted the call to end.

The following day, Jack and Jess agreed to meet up that afternoon outside Jess's house and to go to the local Costa. Jess was excited and nervous at the same time! When Jack arrived at her house, she was outside with her parents and little sister. Jack was nervouse about heading over but found enough courage to call her to confirm it was her outside. He parked his car up on the opposite car park and made his way over. From the look of them, you could tell they were both nervous to what was to come next, however deep in conversation, they made their way to Costa.

Unfortunately for them, they both forgot it was Sunday times which led to the Costa being closed. They found it funny and proceeded to McDonalds and then to sit behind the church near the University. It was interesting sitting there, although their chicken nuggets went cold. To begin with, because of how still they were sitting, countless rats came into view chasing each other. A homeless guy approached them and performed a weird and "wonderful" poem about a woman's vagina. Jack asked a few times if Jess was cold but she said no, pretty certain that he was but tried to play it cool.

Over time, Jack and Jess meet up and talk most nights via phone call. One night Jess was doing the magic mirror with her mum and Jack was having a rough time. Not many of his friends was answering his call and all he wanted was an escape for a few moments. He was messaging Jess, who was doing her hardest to keep him calm, he ended up calling her but she couldn't answer. When she noticed she tried to call him back but had no joy. He finally agreed to meet her at her's after she finished work. Before leaving the venue, Jess made her way to the bathroom to freshen up and noticed small packs of TICTAC's in a bowl. She grabbed a handful mainly because she found them adorable. When she got home, she helped her mum unload the car and waited for Jack to show. It was about 10 minutes later he parked up on the car park outside. As Jess walked over, she placed her hands in her pockets and remembered picking up the TICTACs. As she reached the car, she knocked on the window waiting for Jack to agree to her entering and as she opened the door the first thing she offered was a small pack of these TICTACs. Jack laughed cause of how random it was, that didn't matter to Jess, she saw him smile. She didn't ask what the matter was but helped him be distracted by having a random conversation.

On the 29th August, Jess was at work and agreed to meet Jack on her break. They took a walk the Costa, thankfully it was open this time, and they had a hot chocolate each. At one point Jack had a phone call from a client and Jess could see he was getting stressed. His hand was clenched in a fist on the table and all Jess wanted to do was hold it to help him relax. She refrained from doing this in fear of making the situation worse or being rejected. Where as in reality, this is something that Jack could of done with at that very moment.

On the way back to Jess's work, they agreed that Jack would pick her up afterwards and they will hang out for a bit. Before heading in, Jess went to give Jack a hug but it was probably the most awkward hug in history as they both when to give a high hug... It resulted in both having one arm high and the other low and keeping it short... Jess felt so embarrased as she walked back in that even her colleague asked what type of hug that was. Jess laughed it off and told her colleague about Jack. During her shift they carried on talk and at one point Jess mentioned how she was getting compliments from a few men at one of her table's.

Jack: Should I be worried?

Jack appeared to be joking but was also trying to hint at Jess how he felt about her in a flirting manner. Not like they wasn't flirting countless times before hand anyways. Jess picked up on this but blanked it and answered his other messages. She had a plan in mind and was up for bring out the brat side of her.

Jack picked Jess up as he promised and they went to hers so she could drop her belongings off. She brough him into the house where they were talking for a little while with her mum and Jess played piggy in the middle with her siblings: Annabella and Kaitlyn. Jess wanted to show Jack one of her favourite places in the local area, so they didn't stay at the house long. They made their way back down the road and all the way to the crossings not stopping there but carring on passed and up the blue swirling ramp to the big blue bridge. At night, Jess found it peaceful and loved doing photography up there although she didn't take her camera with her this night as her focus was else where. Jack liked the view and could see what she meant by peaceful.

It was time for Jess to bring about her plan... During their discussion she brought up the snap message about Jack being worried regarding Jess getting compliments.

Jack: I don't know what you're on about

Jess: Bullshit!! You like me, you want to hug me, you want to kiss me Jess began to tease with her singing

Jack: Oh shut up!

Jess was close enough to him and didn't expect it when Jack pulled her by the back of her throat in for a kiss! They made out for a little while before heading back to Jess's house where they made out more on the doorstep not wanting to leave each others presents.

It's safe to say that that is the moment they agreed to be together!
